DURAZZO is delighted to present, for the first time, the work of designer Mehdi Dakhli in an exhibition entitled ‘La Leonor’. Designed in resonance with the works of Leonor Fini, Mehdi Dakhli drew direct inspiration from one of the artist's ink drawings to create a unique design piece bearing her first name. This collaboration is in line with the gallery's ongoing dialogue between historical avant-garde movements and contemporary creation.
A radical and elusive artist, Leonor Fini constantly explored the murky areas of femininity, dreams and power. Through this work, Mehdi Dakhli explores the materialisation of an imaginary world: that of a free woman deeply rooted in the collective mythologies of the 20th century.
A designer at the crossroads of disciplines: entirely self-taught, Mehdi Dakhli has developed a design practice based on sculptural narration. His influences range from visionary architecture to expressionist cinema and Gothic literature. His work, often described as ‘fetish design’, celebrates emotion, memory and secrecy.
