"We must act as if the world has just been created."

- Oskar Schlemmer

Oskar Schlemmer (1897-1983) was a German artist who taught at the Bauhaus from 1921 onwards in several disciplines: first mural painting, sculpture and drawing and finally theatre. It was through the Triadic Ballet that Oskar Schlemmer became world famous. His choreographies make him one of the most eminent precursors of contemporary dance and performance art. Schlemmer's approach was primarily scenic, even on canvas, where he concentrated on the study of the representation of man reduced to form and movement. This research is also reminiscent of the Bauhaus ideas of industry and seriality.
